"My time as a student at CJDS was filled with curiosity and excitement, love and support. At CJDS I learned to ask questions and explore my interests. I grew up in a safe learning environment and was encouraged to push myself as an individual and a member of a community. This experience gave me an incredible amount of confidence as a lifelong learner. With this confidence I went to college at Indiana University to study Studio Art and hone my hands on problem solving skills. With this same confidence I moved to Berkeley, California after college to participate in a Jewish Farm Fellowship program. This led me to running farms at Jewish summer camps, working with Jewish teens and social justice, and teaching in a Jewish preschool."

Lee is currently preparing for his next steps, and is in the process of choosing the college that feels like a good fit. His interests include technology, game design and engineering, and credits the Lego Robotics Program and many hands-on lessons that were sparked during his time at CJDS.

"The fond memories that come to mind when I think of CJDS are the all school events like Kabbalat Shabbat and Holiday Celebrations. We were like extended family and those events allowed us to be together in one place enjoying art, music and the important things in life. One of the events, the Butterfly Release was especially meaningful to me and stands out when I think about my early years at CJDS. Some of my most beloved memories at CJDS include Art and Music. I am so grateful to have attended an elementary school that prioritizes these subjects."

Jacob recalls his time at CJDS, and shares: "My favorite memory at CJDS is of Chumash class with Eran. Chumash class was my first introduction to Jewish studies, and I was enthralled by the Jewish texts and Eran's incredible teaching abilities. That experience has continued to inspire my passion for Jewish learning to this day. I also developed numerous lifelong friendships. I credit my experience at CJDS for much of my personal, academic and professional success."

Maya recently reconnected with CJDS when she made a donation through her B'nai Tzedek Fund.

Maya shares, "As I am moving on to a new chapter in life, I wanted to give back as a 'thank you' to the places that brought me to where I am now."

"CJDS was a nurturing learning environment where I learned to think critically and for myself. I learned to question things and not just take them at face value. I learned to be confident, which has helped me through out my medical career. I also learned to be a leader – something that is very important in my career because as a physician I lead a team of nurses, physicians in training, and students."

Zach is currently a Senior in High School who is taking college credit courses including fourth level Hebrew and Jewish History at OSU. Crediting his time at CJDS, Zach was able to skip 3 courses of Hebrew and swiftly move to the fourth level course of Hebrew and Jewish History.

Zach shares, "At my high school, I have been privileged to take college courses early and I am in my second semester full-time at The Ohio State University."

"CJDS has given me an immense love for science and the environment. When transferring to New Albany Middle School, I had a strong love for science and because of CJDS, I excelled. I took advanced courses during high school and helped pioneer the biomedical science program, receiving a perfect score on the national exam.”

Tal credits CJDS as being the start of her intellectual journey and the reason why she is so curious now. "In hindsight, having an open environment to explore my values as a young, Jewish girl was crucial to understanding my life as an adult. The insightful conversations I had with my amazing Teacher Eran Rosenberg in 5th and 6th grade are fortunately to blame… Luckily for me these questions were welcomed, and Eran not only answered most of them but provoked more thinking and understood that there was no right answer. Such meaningful memories of learning at CJDS truly showed how I should approach life with curiosity and openness when I don't understand something, and I am endlessly grateful for that."
