Admissions - Why Choose CJDS
Frequently Asked Questions

Will CJDS be too religious for my family?  Is CJDS not sufficiently religious for my family?

  • CJDS provides a pluralistic Jewish education serving the needs of Jewish families of all denominations and styles of Jewish expression.

  • The integrated curriculum at CJDS exposes children to many components of Jewish tradition throughout the day including the Hebrew language, prayer, culture, art, history, and geography.

What is the financial viability of CJDS?

  • In each of the past several years, CJDS has raised about $1 million to meet the school's expenses. This year will be no exception.

  • The funds will be raised once again through a variety of efforts, including the Parents Campaign, the Community Campaign, Kesher Connection, support from the Columbus Jewish Foundation, and Wisdom of the HeART.

  • The best long-term plan to ensure financial viability will be increased enrollment. We are working with the Columbus Jewish Federation to develop a community-wide plan to improve recruiting for our day schools.

In addition to tuition, how much more will I be expected to contribute as a parent at CJDS?
  • We have three major avenues for raising funds from parents throughout the school year, we hope that all parents participate either financially or with time on these events.
  1. CJDS Parents Campaign:  We will ask for 100% participation in our fundraising efforts, with each family's level of contribution determined by their own financial situation. The "ask" in the Parents Campaign is that every family give $1,500 per child.
  2. Wisdom of the HeART:
